Daiwa SS700 Tournament Whisker Line Lay Question

Greetings,

The spool has a forward taper - quite the reverse of Daiwa'due south electric current offerings which has a reverse taper. Ostensibly, a forward taper should cast further.

A few questions given that we'll be using Fireline with it if we get this reel.

1. Does the line lay show the same forrad taper when the spool is loaded up to the top?

ii. Is this truly 7.0 oz and no heavier? (Given that we're using some old school Daiwa at 4.9 oz, 7 oz is already quite a scrap for a UL reel.)

3. Anyone find that this reel does indeed cast further than other reels of its size?

Thanks,
UL

ps: Anyone got a used one FS?

1. Yeah

two. +/- .5 ounce

3. Was cutting border engineering at the fourth dimension. Casts too every bit whatsoever with a properly filled spool.

Only sold the JDM version, called a 600.

if you want the reel to spool line toward the acme of the spool, merely replace the spool washer with anarrower 1. if the reel has two washers, remove one. i have this reel, and information technology lays fireline ameliorate than any other reel i have used.

Thanks Sony.

I've found fireline to be incredibly forgiving in the four lb and under tests. It works well in nigh ANY reel I've used but in an platonic reel, it could exist incredible. If this reel was a bit lighter, I'd be all over it wihhout a question.

For my son'southward 12th B-day coming up, I'm mounting a reel semi-permanently on a i.five oz 6' 6" UL rod so don't really want a 7 oz reel. The whole combo will reel will be sub 6.5 oz which is less than one SS700.

However, I may well pick up a SS700 just for kicks and see how well the line lay really is.

I wish I could measure the spool diameter and spool width where the line lays...

Cheers,
UL

Exact same height as 2000 size Daiwa but the 2000 is 1/2 inch wider. While I would never sell mine, I wouldn't pick up another one. The lack of space anti-opposite will get to you. I turn mine off for Pompano line-fishing(jigging) and it is a boom to catch them on that little reel.

The bore of DAIWA SS TOURNAMENT 700 spool is 15mm.((0.59 inch),and the spool width is 37mm.(i.457 inch).

I am now the owner of DAIWA SS TOURNAMENT 600(JDM version) sold past Thor and i ain some other 3 reels DAIWA SS TOURNAMENT 700 and 4 DAIWA SS TOURNAMENT 1300 .

If you similar lighter reel for your son try to find ABU CARDINAL STAMINA DRAG 600U(half dozen.5oz.).I utilise this reel for over 4 years with no trouble with FIRELINE 4lb. and i was able to catch one 23.5 red fish with this reel(the reel is for sweet h2o,just i utilize in salt h2o without problem) .
Like SS 700 ,ABU-CARDINAL STAMINA Elevate 600U have very fine drag .

Jean,

Cheers, give thanks y'all, thank you....:)

Thanks for taking the time to measure.

We are probably be defining 'diameter' and spool width differently.

Just so I empathise you, here is Cabela'south picture of a spool.

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ ... &noImage=0

Past 'diameter' you mean from the the inside forepart edge of the spool to the within back edge of the spool where the line lays.

By width I mean how broad the spool is when looking from the front of the reel as you look directly at the elevate knob. Right?

Anyways, that's first-class width to diameter ratio. I call up of all the spool design (assuming skilful line lay) this is the best spool blueprint I've ever seen in a UL line.

The next best would exist the Luvias/Aegis/Gekkabijin/Presso series. However, I call back with those, even the 2004 is a bit also big for true UL.

He meant the spool pinnacle. It is .59 inch, I did a quick measurement.
